A poll made my Gigwise.com had a total of 3,000 participants saying on average they paid £4 for the album. Multiply that by the 1.2 million copies of the album now on fans' computers, and you get £4.8 million pounds!

Because Radiohead is no longer affiliated with a record label, the vast majority of the 'In Rainbows' profit will go to them, with minimal overheads. Compare this to selling it through an online store (iTunes, Snocap, etc), and they could only see as little as 25% of that profit.

Radiohead have made a shock announcement - their new album will be released in just 10 days time and will be entitled In Rainbows.

The record will be released as a download version first of all, while a physical "discbox" verson will follow on December 3rd - this set includes a CD as well as two heavyweight 12" vinyls, as well as a second CD featuring more songs, photographs and artwork.

Even more of a shock, Radiohead have left the price for the download version blank - meaning fans can choose how much they wish to pay for In Rainbows. Meanwhile, the discbox is ready for pre-order at £40.

Further info on the discbox reveals that the set also includes lyric booklets and will be encased in a hardback book and slipcase.

Rainbow have set-up this special In Rainbows website where you can order both formats - although fans won't be able to download the album until October 10th.
